The Illinois Legislative Intern Staff Intern Program Looking For Paid Interns

The Illinois Legislative Intern Staff Intern Program has been in existence since 1961, providing the Illinois General Assembly with professional staff. While the interns learn about the legislative process and policymaking, the Illinois General Assembly has a pool of potential employees at the ready. To continue this tradition of providing an experiential opportunity for those interested in pursuing a career in the legislative arena, we need your assistance in getting the word out. This program is open to applicants from all majors and from colleges and universities within and outside of Illinois. Applicants must complete their undergraduate degree prior to the start of the internship. Most of our applicants are seniors but applicants may also be post-graduate, looking to change careers or get back into the work force. This is a full-time paid internship. Great for students that want a gap year before pursuing law school or graduate school! It is also a great opportunity for someone that has completed their degree undergraduate or graduate and is looking for some “hands on” experience working in the policymaking arena. You may also have some students that are still trying to figure out what they are going to do with their degree. This is a great opportunity to build some skills and figure out what you like and what you don’t. It is a 10 month commitment from September 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024 with a pay of $3,300 per month.

We have concluded our normal interview process but still have Republican internships to fill. Applicants are encouraged to complete their online application before June 1, 2023. We will be forwarding applications as they are completed with the hope of having all positions no later than June 15, 2023.
