WHO IS RICHARD PORTER: In February of 2021, former IL GOP State Chair Tim Schneider - who was quoted in The Illinoize - stated: "Richard Porter has been saying for years that he wants to make Illinois a place where people want to live again. People leave Illinois because our government is obsessed with raising money to cover its financial failure instead of looking for ways to make our lives better. Our system is rigged so that the folks in government get a sweet deal and the rest of us are screwed. Richard is a self-made kind of guy. He moved here from New York, paid his way through law school where he graduated at the top of his class. President George H.W. Bush brought him in to the Treasury Department, and then the White House in senior positions before he was 30. He came back to Chicago in the early 1990’s and had a stellar career in law while remaining active helping the Republican cause and raised his family.Richard was identified as one of the “elf’s” that Hillary Clinton called the vast right wing conspiracy. He’s represented Illinois on the RNC for 7 years (now 9) and was my wing man while I was chairman. He’s an “out of the box” thinker and writes frequently for the Chicago Tribune and RealClearPolitics about Illinois."
WHO IS JOSH KANTROW: Josh Kantrow litigates and provides advice on technology and privacy-related matters, is co-chair of Lewis Brisbois’s Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) Practice, and co-hosts the firm's popular podcast, "The BIPA Radar." Josh also has appeared as a guest on hundreds of radio and television programs and podcasts, has been interviewed by leading industry publications, and has published articles on various legal topics and issues. Josh has been a speaker at approximately 100 seminars and webcasts, conducted across the United States, in Europe and in Israel. Josh’s experience managing claims enables him to view legal issues from the client’s perspective. Earlier in his career, Josh worked in London for a Berkshire Hathaway backed insurer, managing complex professional liability litigation, analyzing claims, counseling on contract wordings, and assessing risk. Josh also served for three years as outside counsel for a national manufacturer based in Chicago, managing claims, and providing transactional advice. Josh spent a semester in law school at the Université Aix-Marseille in Aix-en-Provence, France, interned for a federal judge at the U.S. Claims Court in Washington, D.C., and practiced in New Orleans for four years prior to moving to Chicago. He is a frequent contributor as a Republican voice on the syndicated radio program Beyond the Beltway (Sunday evenings on AM-560), moderated by Bruce Dumont.
A little bit about Old Town's The House of Glunz: Their legacy began in 1888 when great-grandfather Louis Glunz Sr. journeyed from Westphalia, Germany to what is now known as the Old Town neighborhood of Chicago. His relationships with buyers, sellers and producers—distilled from hard work and trusted handshakes—are valued generations later and create the foundation for our distinctive collections. These relationships allow The House of Glunz to uniquely select and curate the finest wines and spirits at their best value. Now in their 130th year of business, The House of Glunz has been recognized by Chicago Magazine as the Best Wine Shop in Chicago. Offering a thoughtful selection of the finest wines and spirits, The House of Glunz accommodates all requests spanning casual “everyday wines” to the highly allocated and rare wines and spirits held in our extensive cellar.
Street parking is available on Division or Wells. Very reasonable paid parking within a 5 minute walk (according to Spot Hero).
Get there by 6:30pm. Josh Kantrow will be opening up the evening by 7:00pm, followed by Richard Porter.
Looking forward to having you with us on Thursday, February 29, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at House of Glunz!
