CHICAGO GOP DEMANDS

DENUNCIATION & WITHDRAWAL

OF “SECRET BIGOT” MUEZE BAWANY

IN 50th WARD RACE

The Chicago Republican Party today demanded the withdrawal of Mueze Bawany as a candidate for Alderman in the 50th Ward, while condemning the “pandering to bigotry” being practiced by the Chicago Teachers Union, the Democratic Socialists of America, employees of Northwestern University, and even the Chicago Tribune in seeking to gloss over anti-Semitic and racist postings by Bawany.

“Bawany engaged in anti-Semitic and racist statements on social media,” stated Republican Chair Steve Boulton. “He has no business being a leader in this city at all, and in the 50th Ward in particular given the strong Jewish population.”

Boulton noted that Bawany apparently attempted to delete his messages before running. “He just tried to be a secret bigot in this election.” Boulton stated, ”but the truth is in the open now.”

The Chicago Republicans also had sharp criticism of entities such as the Chicago Teachers Union  and Democratic Socialists of America, who are backing Bawany, but are also failing to denounce his abusive statements.

They cannot portray themselves as ‘progressive’ when pandering to the worst instincts of our society”, Boulton stated. “This candidacy must be denounced and their support withdrawn.”

Boulton also criticized a recent Chicago Tribune piece that sought to deflect attention from Bawany to his opponent.

“The media is there to report the facts, not mold public opinion into what they would like to see,” Boulton stated. “The people rule here, not the media.”
