CHICAGO GOP: MAYOR JOHNSON, YOU BET WE HELPED DEFEAT YOUR NEW TAX!

The Chicago Republican Party thanks Mayor Johnson for his backhanded compliment in asserting that Republican votes were key to defeating his new tax proposal referendum.

“Did Republicans quietly work hard to defeat an increase in taxes on some of the most overtaxed populations in America?  You betcha!!” stated Chicago Republican Party Chairman Steve Boulton.

“People want prosperity, and that requires healthy businesses and real estate markets.”

“Too many times residents of Chicago have been sold a tax increase on the rationale that it was for a  noble goal, only to see the Democratic Machine quickly shift the income stream to their own purposes,” Boulton added. 

“It would have been no different here with spending on the homeless. Paying for President Biden’s migrants and the city’s staggering pension deficits would have eaten up every penny before long.”   

Even a quick glance at a map of the vote turnout demonstrates additional reasons why the tax referendum was defeated. Black ward turnout for Democrats was low, handing Mayor Johnson and his puppet masters at the CTU a humiliating defeat.

Boulton pointed out that the Republican vote in the March Primary was up 14% over 2022, as more and more Democratic voters are shifting to vote Republican. 

“You will see much more of that in November,” Boulton predicted. “The scales are falling from eyes everywhere, but particularly in Chicago’s Black communities.”
