Please join the Martin Luther King Republicans for our annual Lincoln Day Dinner on February 11, 2017 at 6 pm, to be held at the Tillman Building 4645 South King Drive in Chicago, Illinois. We will be commemorating the meeting in August 1863 between Black abolitionist leader Rev. Frederick Douglass and President Lincoln with readings and dramatic prose.
Douglass went to President Lincoln to urge equal pay for black soldiers. Douglass became an admirer of President Lincoln after the Emancipation Proclamation and helped the Union Army recruit black troops.
