There is an Aroma at the Chicago Board of Election CommissionersPosted by: Rumblings on Jan 30, 2012 Tagged in: Untagged

Steve Boulton of this blog was tossed off the ballot by the Board despite having around 150 signatures for a requirement of 75, and bringibng in 41 voter affidavits when he only needed to get 19 signatures back. All but two were rejected by the Board. Tongues are wagging!
We asked Boulton, and he would only say that the proceedings were "very peculiar."
The Challenger, Committeeman John Curry, saw his own attorney, John Fogarty, drop out of the case, leaving Curry to go on his own. Hmmmm!
Stay tuned on this one!

I challenge any process by which 41 affidavits were ignored. Inquiring minds want to know - What exactly happened. Who is this Curry guy that the powers to be want him enough to contort the law to keep Boulton off the ballot?

What exactly DID the Chicago Board of Elections rule? What were their findings on these 41 affidavits? How does this impact future decisions.
Where is the analysis on this site of this decision?

Here's the decision:
http://www.chicagoelections.com/dm/general/document_3842.pdf
"The Candidate needed 75 signatures to be on the ballot. The Candidate submitted 150 signatures. There were 125 objections. 94 objections were sustained leaving 56 valid
signatures which is 19 signatures fewer than the required signatures. At the hearing on
Candidate's Rule 8 Motion, with the exception of 2 signatures, he was unable to meet his burden
of going forward in rehabilitating the signature objections sustained by the Board at the records
examination. Accordingly, I recommend that the name of Stephen F. Boulton not be printed on
the ballot for the office of Republican Ward Committeeman for the 32d Ward of the City of
Chicago for the Primary Election to be held on March 20, 2012."

I don't know much about elections, but this does not look right. Will someone come forward with details? Our elections in Chicago are always so rotten!

In my case, the Hearing Officer accepted affidavits that were not even notarized or certified, just a signature.

Party at least one long time Party activist Frank Rowder
who filed a notorized write in document to be a write in
candidate for the IL State Senate in the Lakefront's 6th
district is already contacting several Committeemen and
has even reached out to the Chicago Young Republicans and
is mounting a persusavie effort to be trying to bring a
two party system.
