Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. I will oppose the Senate health care bill when it comes before the House for a vote.
Last year, I wrote many of the provisions, which became part of the GOP health reform bill. My legislation, the Medical Rights & Reform Act, had three main provisions:
1. The Medical Rights Act that said Congress shall make no law interfering with decisions you make with your doctor;
2. Granting the right to all Americans to buy health insurance from any state in the Union, especially if they find a plan less expensive or more flexible for their family or small business; and
3. Lawsuit reform.
Unfortunately, the Senate bill imposes 10 new taxes in the teeth of the Great Recession. It costs over a trillion dollars and, according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, increases the cost of health care insurance.
I will work to advance our common-sense health care reforms in the place of Speaker Pelosi’s flawed government health care bill.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. If you think we need a new direction in Washington based on less spending, lower taxes and honest government, join our campaign today.
Very truly yours,
Mark Kirk
Member of Congress
