Dear Friends, Traveling to Peoria this week, Congressman Mark Kirk gave a speech to Caterpillar employees about the importance of opening new markets to expand American exports, lowering taxes and promoting policies that support Illinois. Congressman Kirk also earned the endorsement from Jim Owens, the Chairman of Caterpillar – one of Illinois’ largest employers. Owens highlighted the congressman's record as a fiscally responsible consensus builder who understands how to get our economy back on track. Owens joins other job creators like the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Business who endorsed Mark Kirk for Senate.

Meanwhile, our state's financial situation continues to decline under the failed Quinn-Giannoulias policies. This week, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that Illinois' miserable bond rating drove up borrowing costs by over $500 million. Last week, the Sun-Times reported that Illinois' true debt totals over $120 billion. Let's be clear: Alexi Giannoulias talking about fiscal responsibility is like Rod Blagojevich talking about ethics. It's time to change course from the Blagojevich/Quinn/Giannoulias policies of the past and move our state and country forward to fiscal discipline and economic growth. Thank you for your continued support. On to Victory, Eric Elk
