At its December 12 meeting in Normal, the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) State Central Committee (SCC) adopted rules governing election of its members at March 3 county conventions.
The only requirement that the IRP SCC set for the positions was having "voted in the Republican Primary Election in each of the three most recent General Primary Elections."
The only requirement that the IRP SCC set for declaring one's candidacy for the position was to notify the IRP in writing and provide basic information no later that 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2010.
All votes taken by the IRP SCC must be weight based on Republican ballots cast in the most recent primary election. If past voting patterns continue for the February 2, 2010 primary election, just six IRP SCC members (congressional districts 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, and 19) control over 50% the IRP.
