Gov. Jindal was first elected as Louisiana governor in 2007. He is a former Rhodes Scholar, and prior to being elected governor, served as Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, President of the University of Louisiana System, Assistant Secretary for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and was elected to two terms in Congress. As governor of Louisiana, Gov. Jindal focused on growing the private-sector economy and improving the state's business climate. He overhauled the state's ethics code, cut taxes, and revamped the state's workforce development system.
