This is before my time, but I really enjoyed watching this video. A strong conservative voice at a time when "the Great Society" was taking root.
Socialism has returned to the United States in the form of our new President and the Democratic Congress (not that it ever left). Our party leadership has moved too far left over the past decade and has proved through it's legislative actions what used to be it's core belief. That a massive Federal Government is not the answer. Our country is in desperate need of a new champion of the conservative cause, a new voice to challenge and reject this "New Deal for a New Economy".
"You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We'll preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we'll sentence them to take the last step into 1,000 years of darkness."
Enjoy.

I don't understand why Republican fiscal conservatism evaporated after the 1994 congress. How did Republicans get so spineless?

Like many who gain access to money and power, it consumed them. And it will happen to any group as long as the US gov't has control of trillions of dollars. The only way to fix this, is to remove the money form gov't. Yeah, a radical idea today, and unlikley to happen, but that's the only way. Most politicians are opportunist(moderate Arlen Spector) and do not stand on principle. Reagan, with his personal beliefs, and being a product of his era, was strong because of his moral principles. He would be called a far right kook today, by not only liberals, but many so called republicans today.

"My eighty-percent friend is not my twenty-percent enemy."
70/30 is a different story.

It seems to take 20-30 years for Republicans to get corrupted, but about 6 minutes for Democrats. I don't know which I like more, a Republican Governor winning because it is good for the state or the Democrat losing to see that control freak Mike Madigan's head explode.

IS CORRUPTION CONTAGIOUS?

I remember feeling proud to be an American when Reagan was president. Politics have become much more partisan now.

Most American's were proud and to this day love Ronald Reagan...especially in California, because he was a man who never swayed from his core values and beliefs. His ideals were formed as a boy, where he learned from his mom, what it is to be a man of character and strength. She taught him that standing up for God, believing in "RIGHT" and always maintaining your convictions, even when others ridicule, was the ONLY way to live.
His political ideals were also formed as a young boy/man...he understood at an early age, our Founding Father's principals and he carried them with him throughout his life...he never compromised or gave in because it was the "easy way to win"...if he couldn't win by holding true to the values and beliefs he knew to be RIGHT, he didn't want to win, period!
He is what we are lacking today...no one with the courage in office today to do what is right, simply because it IS right! No one with the courage to actually pick a side and FIGHT for it...just a bunch of self-absorbed politicians and leaders who are only focused on the "win"...sadly, making all of us LOSERS in the end!

HA!!! Fiscal conservatism disappeared when they threw out SOCIAL conservatism!
Can't be fiscally prudent when we are supporting liberal social agendas, programs and departments...it simply doesn't work!
