I have a funny feeling obama's election will drive race relations backwards instead of forward. Any thoughts?

With an Obama Presidency, can we officially get rid of Affirmative Action? There is absolutely no reason to keep such an archaic policy.

Obama achieved success through self-reliance and hard work. The example of his life may be powerful enough to challenge the assumptions promoted by the race baiters. If not, the permanent underclass established by New Deal politicies will further devolve.

It will be interesting to watch.

Not at all! As PODER, an Hispanic magazine said, "The symbolic power of an Obama presidency cannot be underestimated. His election would provide, in a fashion, final closure on some of the darkest chapters in American history, the civil rights movement, and it would also open new horizons of aspiration and possibility for millions." Let's encourage that kind of dialogue: "final closure," and no need for further affirmative action.

Good luck. Affirmative action created Barack Obama. Don't you want more of him?

The best idea I heard about race during this election was in an OpEd by Pat Buchanan. He stated, "If you want to have a conversation about race, fine, then let's have a conversation about race. This includes our side speaking also, not just being lectured to by the opposite side.

Honestly, the whole concept of AA is so offensive. It would be like Annika Sörenstam playing the PGA but insisting on using the women's tees or getting a handicap. She wouldn't do that because it would defeat the whole purpose of playing on the men's tour. Take some pride in what you do, and insist on being held to the highest standards, not the lowest.

Race relations over the last few decades have been continuously improving. I expect the trend to continue.

If anything, President Obama now gives everyone something to shoot for. Stupid fat white men like Michael Moore like to preach the system is rigged against minorities. This kind of spiritual poison is worse than even overt racism, since it stops people from *trying* to reach their dreams. It is one thing to try and fail, but to be convinced not to try at all is simply evil.
