Rasmussen: Brady 45, Quinn 38 N/A The interesting part of polling data is traditionally Republicans don't show up until very late in the campaign season. Frequently, Republicans don't start closing the gap until a couple weeks before the election. If Brady and Kirk can maintain even a slight lead going into the fall, they should easily win.
Should the GOP Candidate for Assessor Withdraw in Favor of Claypool? N/A Maureen Murphy came into Skoien's office to demand the GOP run no one against Berrios. She slammed her fist down on the desk several times and said I was f'ing everying up. It was a completely surreal moment. At the time, I couldn't figure out how it was in the best interest of the Republican party to NOT run someone against Berrios. I later found out, Berrios helped her get her BOR seat. Berrios figured the district was still Republican so it was best to own one.
Arizona Protests at Wrigley and Liberal Bias at Channel 11 N/A The voting records of all the on-air talent at Chicago Tonight is active and Democrat. Only wine expert Singh has an independent voting record. I have noticed liberal Chicago Tonight reporters like Carol Marin are really quick to call Republicans "ultra-conservative" but never use the term "ultra-liberal" to describe Democrats. I also have noticed the Chicago Tonight staff only asks where more revenue will come from regarding the budget and never where cuts should be made. The worst part in my estimation is that they accept tax dollar money, therefore they should at least have some Republican representation to offset their extreme liberal/machine bias. Blagojevich doesn't count. They need to ask hard questions of Daley and Madigan also. I think this would be a great issue for the state party. They should file an official complaint and demand if taxpayer money is being used to have a more fair and balanced program. We can be sure with Brady's lead over Quinn, they will lead every conversation with "ultra-conservative, extreme pro-life advocate Bill Brady said..."
Rumor about Scott Lee Cohen Looking into Proft as Running Mate N/A This will never happen. Proft is probably giving Cohen advice on other potential candidates. Its not like anyone in the Democrat Party will help him. I love the idea of Art Turner.
How to Fix the Illinois Budget Deficit N/A I also advocated Illinois declare bankruptcy to renegotiate the contracts that create the structural deficit. Indeed, the legal issues would be a huge problem since a state has never declared insolvency. The solutions are not trite, but require the will power of the people who created the mess. While the budget issues are more complicated than just cut spending, each part would work with the will of the IGA. Only $3 billion is spent on salaries, so Illinois' budget problems are different than Chicago's which is patronage heavy.
The Democratic Machine is Playing Political Games with the Deficit N/A Madigan is as shifty as they get. I respect the fact he knows what he is doing, but disdain that it is now at the point of killing Illinois' prosperity. Madigan is only trying to contain his November losses. Quinn is strangely embracing political suicide. Cullerton seems to want to avoid publicity like a snake.
We Suffer So the Mayor can Keep His Kitty of $1 Billion Plus (and Growing). N/A Even with the Tea Party anger, I do not see how enough of City counsel is changed in order to make an impact. When I did the Black History Month project, I learned a huge chunk of the black population doesn't really care about politics. They are socialized to vote Democrat, but they are more concerned about jobs and housing. I'm not sure how to reach them at this point. It will possible take a modern day Robin Hood. But everytime, an independent black leader starts to emerge, Daley sent his patronage army to quash the leader and put in a rubber stamp. With the structural deficits and corruption, Chicago will become more and more desperate.
Republican Traitors: Who Can You Trust? N/A That's Ted Matlak.
Republican Traitors: Who Can You Trust? N/A John Curry does not deny Matlak passed his petitions.
2010 REPUBLICAN “WAVE” COULD THREATEN LYONS N/A "Republican" Committeeman Dave Haynes, not once, but twice prevented any Republican opposition to Lyons. His excuse, "I don't want grief from my Democrat friends." This has allowed Lyons to raise money for 2 cycles. If you don't want to confront the Democrats, get the hell out of a leadership position.
Obama "Going Vogue" N/A Obama is sounding really defensive when talking about the oil spill. What an amature. He wants to take credit for everything good that happens, but doesn't want the blame for the bad. I love the fact Obama obviously has a thin skin. His four years are going to be torture for him.
And You Thought Scott Lee Cohen was Bad? N/A Interviewer: Don't you think the American form of government is the best? Milton Friedman: No. I think it is the least worst.
Chicago Republican Party Interviewing Aldermanic Candidates N/A John Garrido is running against a very vulnerable Pat Levar in 45. Levar is despised. Garrido is a Chicago Cop and should get a lot of support from them. The Aldermanic elections are only 9 months away. Volunteers in the area should contact Garrido now. They may also want to help Dave Anderson who is also running against a despised incumbent in Joe Lyons. Anderson is a Tea Party candidate.
Will Illinois Republicans Inadvertently Assist Obama Again N/A What's the alternative? The same logic of a "bad Republican" sunk Topinka and we Blagojevich. The state will probably never undo the damage he inflicted. Politics is usually always choosing the least worst. Pick the better or run yourself. Politics is the art of the possible, not the art of the ideal.
On the Road to November: Hanging out with GOP State Rep. Candidate Dave Anderson at the Jeff Park Fest N/A Dave is definitely is good for the Chicago GOP. He has an excellent skillset. I think the Tea Party guys will be hugely behind him. Good luck Dave.
Illinois GOP National Committeewoman Resigns as State GOP Coalitions Director N/A I have started hearing rumors about this, I would like to know exactly what happened.
Metamorphosis: How McCook Mayor Jeffrey Tobolski Became the Lyons-McCook Business Association... N/A Good piece of investigating. These machine hacks have no shame. I usually find then the word "Good Government" is in a title, it invariably means the opposite i.e. Stroger Good Government Group.
STEWART: REPUBLICANS SCENT WIN IN BOARD OF REVIEW RACE N/A This race is very important because the Board of Review is the source of funding for much corruption in Cook County. This seat should be Repbulican and is winnable. Patlak needs to break up the Madigan/Berrios funding machine by selling tax appeals to real estate agents and property attorneys. Local politics sometimes effects people's lives more than the big races. This is an important race for Republicans.
Citizens for Segvich Announcement... N/A I am looking forward to the Segvich November surprise. Good Luck Carl.
The Geopolitical Impact of All That Debt N/A The United States pays China up to $3.5 billion/day just to pay the interest on our debt. Paying the interest on our national debt is now significantly larger than our military spending. We can complain about China's currency manipulation all we want, but we no longer have any leverage to do anything about it. China owns the US. The US Government is by far the largest and worst ponzi scheme ever.
