After the Civil War, Northern missionaries recognizing that newly freed black children would need better education established schools throughout the South. The purpose was to explicitly remove the children from the pervasive culture of racism and ignorance that would hold them back. These schools were established to achieve results in typical areas of education; reading, writing, math, and deductive reasoning.
A disproportionate number of future black leaders and pioneers in many fields came out of the relatively few and small Republican schools deliberately planted in the post-Civil War South. The successes were the result of hard work and high expectations.
Imagine if that was done today? With the emphasis on multiculturalism and political correctness all that is needed for validation is empty words regardless of results. Multiculturalism today celebrates all cultures but it is the poor who ultimately pay the price of that celebration in stunted development, missed opportunities and blighted lives.
Democrats come into this story because, since the 1960s, they have been aiding and abetting a counterproductive ghetto lifestyle that is essentially a remnant of the ignorant and racist culture which handicapped Southern whites and blacks alike for generations.
Many among the liberal Democratic elite portray the black redneck culture today as the only "authentic" black culture and even glamorize it. They denounce any criticism of the ghetto lifestyle or any attempt to change it.
Teachers are not supposed to correct black youngsters who speak "black English" and no one is supposed to be judgmental about the whole lifestyle. From the remnants of the ignorant Southern culture, belligerence is considered being manly and crudity is considered cool, while being civilized is regarded as "acting white." Why is it that a woman who speaks 5 languages, is a concert level pianist, has a doctorate degree, and is Secretary of State is white, while the drug dealer on the corner is black?
The Chicago Republican Party challenges the black community to look at results and commitment of political parties not lip service and empty promises. While the Democratic Party sells its soft bigotry of low expectations for political gain, the Republican Party has been and remains committed to the empowerment of the black community because it is the right thing to do.
